The Future

What could transportation in Columbus look like in the future? Artist Michael Tyznik envisioned this “Columbus Rapid Transit and Major Bus Corridors” map. How would you design the next-generation transportation system in Columbus?

Artist’s Statement:

Columbus is the largest city in the U.S. without rail transportation. Growing up in Gahanna, I was always fascinated by the possibilities for a rail system, and I’ve been exploring the idea for over a decade now. Even if this isn’t the perfect system for Columbus, I think a real, well-designed transit map can help change the idea in people’s minds from something abstract and intangible to something concrete and achievable.
