Commemorative Street Sign

In honor of the library’s 150th birthday, a commemorative street sign was installed at the corner of Broad and High Streets.

Columbus Metropolitan Library is celebrating its sesquicentennial with many events and programs throughout Franklin County. On March 4, the library’s 150th birthday, all 23 locations celebrated with Birthday Bashes featuring family activities, performances, prizes and refreshments. Gahanna Branch’s bash began with the ribbon cutting and grand opening festivities for its new building, part of Phase II of the library’s aspirational building program to provide 21st century libraries in our communities.

Our community partners are also helping the library celebrate with Partner Days, offering customers discounted and free admissions with their library card. Partners include The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks, Franklin Park Conservatory, National Veterans Memorial and Museum, CAPA , Columbus Symphony, Gateway Film Center, Columbus Museum of Art and Ohio History Connection.
